The procedures discussed in the Scarless Endoscopic Facelift section all have in common the fact that they involve skin and muscles. For many patients, moving and removing these softer tissues will achieve their desired look.
However, for many other patients, there is a disharmony between the skeletal support and the soft tissue envelope. This is a common cause for aesthetic concerns especially in the lower face areas like the cheeks, chin and jaw. Loss of volume in these areas affects the overall aesthetics of the mouth, neck and face.
For over two decades, Dr. Ramirez has pioneered advanced methods and techniques for facial beautification by approaching the skeletal foundation of the face and by implanting devices to enhance the forehead, eyes, cheeks, temples, chin and jaw. Indeed, Dr. Ramirez is known world wide as the progenitor of many advances in facial surgery that address the bony structures of the face. As he is fond of saying Facial beauty is BONE DEEP.
If you stop for moment and reflect on this statement, you will find that it makes perfect sense. While facial surgeries that address the softer tissues allow you to achieve a better look…these tissues have been moved around existing bones. Over time, these soft tissues will droop and sag again. Dr. Ramirez strongly believes that people with a better and a stronger facial skeleton look much younger at any age than those with poor facial bony support. Hence, correcting this lack of support will delay the droopiness of the soft tissues and will make the sagging less evident and less prominent.

What to expect
Most facial surgeries that utilize implants are performed as an outpatient procedure, under general anesthesia, at our in-office surgery suite. You will be given pre-operative instructions well before your surgery date. You will not have anything to drink or to eat prior to your procedure.
You will arrive at our facility on the day of your procedure and enter our pre-op room. Feel free to bring friends or relatives, if you wish. Here you will relax, listen to music, have aromatherapy and be treated to a message. Dr. Ramirez does not rush you off to surgery; but rather prepares you gently for the procedure by enhancing your psychological and physical well-being.
Depending upon the procedure, the surgery takes from a few to several hours. During this time you will be under general anesthesia, so you will not feel anything. Note that Dr. Ramirez uses Board Certified Anesthesiologists for all of his surgical procedures.
Because Dr. Ramirez uses an endoscope for most of his implant surgeries, there is less swelling and bruising; and your recovery time will be shortened greatly. As soon as surgery is completed, you will be placed in our recovery room, until the effects of anesthesia wear off. You will not be able to drive home, so make sure that someone comes with you for the procedure or else transportation has been arranged beforehand.
There will be some swelling and bruising that can be relieved with pain medication and ice packs. Most patients will resume full activity within 7 to 10 days. When you leave the surgery center after your procedure, you will be given a follow-up appointment schedule and you should come back for your follow-up within a few days so your progress can be assessed. (Out of state or foreign patients should be prepared for a 7 – 10 day stay for surgical follow-up.)
You are advised to avoid strenuous physical activities for approximately one month after implants and in particular, to avoid body contact sports or other activities that might cause trauma to the implant areas.
It may take up to 6 months before the final shape of your face will be evident, so be patient during this time.
Although all surgical procedures have risks and complications most aesthetic operations have a low rate of risk or complications. Dr. Ramirez will discuss with you, in detail, all of the possible risks associated with your particular procedure during your consultation; he will also be able to answer all of your questions.
